At that price point, you have to consider options from several brands, including others from Doxa (like the Sub 200 and the 300T), much of the Seiko Prospex line (smaller/flatter wrists will like the SPB143), link odd-ball options like the Serica 5303, die-hard vintage re-issues like those from the link now-revived Aquastar, and arguably even the Oris Diver's Sixty-Five (which link starts at $2,000).

The 36.5mm case is really what cements this as an important release in my link mind. In the current horological landscape, it feels like 36mm is where modern taste bottoms out. It's the smallest you can go before you can truly call a watch small. The extra half link a millimeter here is like stat-padding for GS. The original watch was 37.5mm, a sort of perfect size in its own right, but there's something so appealing about a link confident, 44GS-inspired watch that's even smaller – that doesn't cut corners.
