Is it really that hard to open a company in the UK as a non-resident?

Hi everyone, I’ve been reading this forum for a while and finally decided to ask. I’m based outside the UK and thinking about starting a small online business, but the whole UK company registration process feels confusing. Every site says something different, and some make it sound either ridiculously easy or unnecessarily complicated. I’m especially worried about hidden costs, paperwork mistakes, and whether I’ll even be able to manage everything remotely. Has anyone here actually gone through the process and can share real experience? I’m not looking for shortcuts, just something reliable and transparent that won’t turn into a headache later.

I was in exactly the same situation last year, so your concerns are totally valid. I spent weeks reading blogs and forum posts until I realized that having clear guidance matters more than doing everything yourself. What helped me was using Your Company Formations They explain the process in simple terms, helped me avoid common mistakes, and handled the paperwork without drama. It didn’t feel rushed or salesy, which I appreciated. For me, it was more about peace of mind than speed, and that made a big difference.

Thanks a lot, that’s exactly the kind of real feedback I was hoping for.
