Despite its relatively small size, the Daniel Roth Tourbillon Rose link Gold has abundant wrist presence. The relatively large 20mm lug spacing and beautiful light brown calfskin strap contribute significantly to this. Furthermore, the improved ergonomics ensure that the watch sits wonderfully on the wrist.This tourbillon, beating at a frequency of 50 Hz (360,000 vibrations an hour) with its carriage that makes a full rotation every five seconds, is the fastest in the world.The hands are lumed with Super-LumiNova which makes the watch readable in low-light conditions.As arbitrary and deep-cut referential limited editions go, this one is pretty fun. Tissot released the PR516 Automatic Chronograph last month. The cool colorway and automatic caliber piqued our interest. So today, I'm going hands-on with one to see what it is all about. Could this be the chronograph to buy the sub-€2.5K segment, or does it miss the mark?A clean round case in 904L steel sits on sharp lugs with pronounced edges, creating a high visual contrast. The front face of the watch may suggest the entire piece is polished, but you will find the sides of the middle link case are indeed brushed. The vintage-inspired oversize crown is kept polished and unsigned for a more discreet look. You will appreciate the tactile feel of the 18 teeth on the crown when you wind it.Even from the pictures, you can tell that the restrained and deep black urushi dial is a masterwork of craftsmanship. While master enamelers like Anita Porchet and Suzanne Rohr get their justly-deserved accolades for their work, it's fantastic to be reminded that people like urushi master Isshu Tamura in Kanazawa have quietly dedicated themselves to their own version of the same craft.
