Valif 20 mg (vardenafil) became popular during the 2000s as one of the leading medications for erectile dysfunction (ED), alongside sildenafil and tadalafil. It offered faster onset and fewer food-related interactions than some older options. However, it gradually became less widely used during the late 2010s and early 2020s as newer or more convenient alternatives gained market preference.

A major shift occurred when tadalafil-based products—including fast-melt films and daily-dose versions—became more popular because of their long duration of action and flexible dosing. At the same time, orally disintegrating strips, film-based formulations, and generic sildenafil/tadalafil became cheaper and more accessible, reducing demand for vardenafil brands like Valif 20 mg.

By the early 2020s, many prescribers favored medications with longer activity, simplified dosing, or lower cost, and Valif gradually moved from a mainstream option to a secondary alternative. It was not officially discontinued but was informally “replaced” in many markets by medications viewed as more convenient or cost-effective.

In short, Valif 20 mg began losing widespread use after 2015, with the transition becoming more noticeable between 2018 and 2022, as newer formulations and generics dominated the ED treatment landscape.
