Unlike the Tribute Gyrotourbillon, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon uses a smaller Reverso case size, coming in at 27.4mm wide, 45.5 lug to lug, and just 9.15mm thick, despite sporting a flying Replica Richard Mille rm 74 tourbillon and the Duoface layout. For reference, that is smaller in every dimension compared to a standard Reverso Classic Large Duoface.Indeed, I found this collaboration between Bulgari and Ducati to feel almost effortless, like two pieces in the broader puzzle of Italian design finally interlocking. When I measured with my own calipers, I got 40.2 x 13.4 x 46.6mm. The lugs remained drilled (amazing) and fit the bracelet's 20mm end links. The caseback remains a closed steel format, but thanks to a new design, water resistance is now 300 meters (compared to the 200m offered by the previous generation).
For the most part, I just like that these blue colors are a bit different from the muted, meant-to-be-masculine tones that we're used to seeing on dive watches. Black, grey, dark blue, etc. are all pretty common, but I like that these watches are really going for it, unafraid and without pulling punches. While they look great on their own, to me these are watches that really need to be worn to be appreciated.Prior to that, the original basic designs had also been seen in 2011, but in a slightly smaller case, at 35.8mm. The three new models have cases up-sized from the original 1960 watches as well, at 38mm x 10.9mm, and they also have fake rolex yacht-master display backs.In the slightly later ref. 16753, a very similar watch is set off by a completely different color palette, with stark blacks rather than soft browns. Presenting the watches side-by-side does a great job of showing the range of the GMT. While the Root Beer has a look all its own and is completely vintage, the 16753 wears far more modern as the color scheme is one that Rolex has carried through to their current catalog with the Submariner, Yacht-Master, and, of course, Explorer.
