The date appears at 6 o'clock, not at
Rolex Datejust 3 o'clock as on the other models in the Spirit collection. The other is the Patek Philippe ref. 3448, which debuted in 1962 (the same year that brought us Dr. No and the Cuban Missile Crisis). Like the Rolex, it's a calendar complication with moon-phase, but packing serious horological heat in the form of the caliber 27-460 perpetual calendar.Case in point: Style it with a leather band and it’s understated and elegant enough to go all the way up to black tie. But that exact same watch can also go with a simple sweater and jeans. It just adds a layer of refinement. So I would say that the similarity seems to be quite clear for me – but musicians are not the only ones. We have always been working with famous people. It can be a singer, but it can also be a dancer. The arts are something that we exchange between us, and we are talking art here. You can like the music or not – this is not important for me. It's art.
To reproduce these paintings, which can be discovered by sliding the mobile part of the case, and to respect the blue, yellow, brown and green hues once used by the great Japanese master, the Manufacture's craftsmen resorted to
Gucci Dive miniature enamel painting, applying around 14 layers, each fired at 800°C.The exhibit is holistic; you see plenty of physical watches. The Cartier collection room is filled with treasure from the 1970s and beyond as well as present day models. It's satisfying to see a case with pristine historical examples of Tortue and Tonneau all lined up in a row. Or a vitrine with a Baignoire, an Allongee and a Crash lined up side-by-side: the perfect illustration of the shapes and their evolution. It's a Cartier dream world.
I always prefer to haveToday, almost a year after its introduction, we're taking the Oak & Oscar Atwood flyback chronograph
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak for a spin. Therefore, the delicate and elegant dress watch feels less and less relevant these days.I love this iteration of the UR-100V with a new violet hue. It's got a new movement, to boot. I also appreciate that, unlike all previous iterations of this watch, this one isn't a limited edition. Urwerk is upfront that production capacity challenges will be the only limiting factor in terms of how many of these are out there. –Cole Pennington, Editor
