It has Cartier Panthere De Cartier been four years since I last saw this chronograph without pushers listed in an auction. Although I won the auction in 2018, I never received the watch. The fascinating Nicolet Landeron 251 movement thus became even more elusive. And I became even more committed to finding it… On top of that, the latest addition to the Pelagos lineup introduces a slightly bigger case, a new dial design, a brilliant new clasp, and some minor but clever updates that we'll get into in a minute.It is available with a black, gray, or blue dial and can be yours on a beads-of-rice bracelet for US$2,090.You can see in other photos further below, but the 3 o'clock subdial is actually a 60-minute and 12-hour counter, with the orange 60-minute hand covering up an off-white 12-hour hand when the chronograph is set to zero. The orange marks around that counter also serve as a burn rate indicator for pilots who need to do quick math on the fly. The lugs on the case are straight, a callback to an earlier era (and one Omega seems to be more and more happy to come back to, which I find quite cool).
And today sees the brand releasing the new Carrera Sport Chronograph 160 Years Special Editions.The indicator shows black when the chronograph is not running, yellow when it is, and a mix of both colors Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix when it is stopped but not reset, as is the case in the image above – and a very logical way of taking the guesswork out of using the chronograph it is, too. This piece, made in 1973, goes even further as an oddity: it has a detachable inner case, making it a hybrid between a regular stopwatch and a chronograph wristwatch.To get some insight into what makes the new Deep Space Atomic Clock so special, we talked to NASA's Eric Burt, who is the development lead for the clock itself, and who laughingly describes himself as, " ... just an average country clock guy."
