The fixed strap bars on the FXD derive from older military designs meant for hard abuse in combat scenarios. I never beat up a watch as much as when I'm SCUBA diving, especially before and after dives while moving air tanks in and out of trucks or climbing metal ladders onto boats in the rolling seas. Spring bars really never seem sturdy enough, and the confidence that the FXD's fixed strap bars inspired was a nep miu miu revelation to me.The central case element is both quite thin and shaped to keep the lugs flat against your wrist. This gives the watch a very low profile that I didn't expect, and one that made my Pelagos feel almost thick by comparison. It's a nice bit of ergonomic consideration that ensures that the Black Bay 54 will likely suit a wide variety of wrists (also thanks to the 46mm lug-to-lug) while also wearing in a manner similar to an actual vintage sports watch.

He started working for Omega in 1968 as an International Account Manager and link - as he told link me during an event last year - he link got to communicate with NASA during that time because of his perfect English, which was something quite uncommon in Switzerland in those days.
