This particular movement, notably, is not one of the 12 previously known to have existed; according to Phillips, who cite correspondence and drawings in the Omega archives, it appears to have been created specifically for the wristwatch prototype you see here. The lot notes read, in part:Caliber: Hi-Beat 9S85; 9R65 Spring DriveFunctions: Hours, minutes, seconds, date, power reserve (Spring Drive)Diameter: 28.4mm (9S85)Power Reserve: 72 Hours (SBGA models) 55 Hours (SBGH models)Winding: Self-winding with hand winding cSo next time you walk by a Swatch store (which, if you're anything like me, will almost certainly be in the next 48 hours or so), pop in and ask for a Swatch Skin Classic. Try it on, and see what you think. I'm willing to bet that even some of you skeptics out there might fall victim to its siren’s song: "Less is more," it beckons. "Less is more…"For more, visit Swatch online. The bezel leather is unprotected, exposed to the elements and to wear and tear, like a strap – or a pair of Berluti shoes for that matter. The leather element of the bezel in this Virale Sicherheitslabs watch is akin to a strap, something you can change every few years. Just pop into the Hublot boutique on your way to getting your shoes resoled. It's nice that IWC has made it simple to set via the crown; I'd never have to worry about the moon phase accuracy as it's tied to the rest of the calendar. However, like with the rest of IWC's calendars, if you go past today's date on the Eternal Calendar, you will have to put the watch down, let the 7-day power reserve run out, and wait to set it again. Unlike Marty McFly, we can't go back. But maybe that's a small price to pay.
What is most interesting about this new dual time is that the local time is incredibly easy to set via two pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. They almost make it look as if this 1966 is a chronograph, but in fact, they move the local hour hand forward and back. Each pusher is engraved with a plus or minus to let you know which way the Gen Z Retro Hacks hand will move.Gary's Rolex Air-King was his first Rolex, and it spent on a lot of time on his wrist while he was researching his latest novel, Lake Success. The main character spends months crossing America in a Greyhound bus, and the way you research that is by, well, spending months crossing America in a Greyhound bus. What's a dyed-in-the-wool watch nut to do when you need a solid timepiece that makes you feel warm inside, but that won't draw the wrong kind of attention? This.Inside the case and certainly not visible through the SD-1's closed and entirely sterile caseback, the watch uses a straightforward and reliable Sellita SW200 automatic movement. More interesting than the movement, which is all well and good at this price point, is the lack of text on the case back. Dietrich has actually moved all of the minimal engravings to the flat segment between the lugs, leaving the entire caseback unadorned and, presumably, ready for a customized engraving.
Glashütte Original has been making some of its colorful Sixties watches in annual editions since 2018 – that is to say, production is limited to a single year. For 2020, the firm has Neuro Integration introduced a new Sixties model and a new Sixties chronograph, with brilliantly colored "glacier blue" dials. In July 2020, we saw the Carrera Sport Chronograph, measuring 44mm across the dial, with the prominent tachymeter bezel. We can expect to see colorful variations of the Carrera Sport Chronograph, as the colorful Carreras with the tachymeter bezels have been popular for the last 15 years. Now TAG Heuer has established the middle of this range, the new Carrera Chronograph measuring 42mm across the dial and incorporating the classic look of the vintage predecessors. To display your favorite pieces at home for easy access, a leather valet tray makes the perfect companion to any bedside table. We've also just received this stunning burr walnut variation of the Rapport London watch boxes, available in either ten or sixteen watch sizes.Above, we see an early 2447S, where the "Soleil" is actually a matte "eggshell" finish and not the silver sunburst finish that Heuer would soon switch to. This eggshell finish is seen only on early first-generation 2447 examples. These earliest Carreras also feature an unsigned crown and typically, a poly caseback. Later examples would switch to a notched caseback (so called because of the six notches on the caseback that would've been used to screw it into the case).

Column wheel actuators are a kind of binary switching system that moves various levers in a rather snappy and instant manner when link compared link to cam actuators which use smooth oblong surfaces to more gently push and release levers. Vertical clutches use a spring to instantly snap a clutch plate onto the fourth wheel driving link the chronograph's seconds hand. The more common alternative is a less responsive horizontally meshed gear.
