Hi! I'm thinking about remodeling my kitchen and I really want to do it smart. I recently came across MaineCabinetCompany and they have some great custom cabinet options, but I'm a little confused about how exactly to choose between modern and classic. For example, I can't decide if I'm going to have a minimalist kitchen with clean lines, or if adding crown molding and other classic elements will be too much. Has anyone else faced this dilemma? Do you think it's worth mixing styles or sticking to one? Also, I'm wondering about quartz countertops - how practical are they and how easy are they to maintain?

I understand your dilemma - I recently chose a kitchen myself, and used https://mainecabinetcompany.com/. If we talk about minimalism and classics, then everything depends on how you approach the choice of details. Moldings, crown elements or baseboards, of course, can add a certain “classic” shade, but if you approach this wisely, they can harmoniously fit into a modern interior. For example, I chose very thin, light moldings that do not attract too much attention, but at the same time add elegance and completeness. They visually emphasize the shapes of the cabinets, but do not overload the space. It is important to remember that excessive complexity and a lot of decorative elements can make the kitchen visually overloaded. Therefore, I advise you not to overdo it, but to look for a golden mean that will combine functionality and style. As for quartz countertops, I also thought for a long time, but chose them, and now, looking back, I can say that this is one of the best solutions. Firstly, they are very durable and resistant to mechanical damage, they are not afraid of scratches, and this is very important for the kitchen, where something is constantly being cut and moved. Secondly, quartz does not absorb water and does not require such careful maintenance as wooden or marble countertops. Plus, their surface is non-porous, and they practically do not get dirty. Yes, their cost is higher, but it is justified by durability and aesthetics. In addition, quartz countertops are easy to clean, and this is a big advantage if you want to minimize the time spent on kitchen maintenance.

I have also recently been planning a renovation and I am very interested in the topic of choosing between modern and classic elements. In fact, it all depends on what effect you are going for. Minimalism works great with clean, strict lines, but if you add a few classic details to the interior - such as moldings or beautiful baseboards - the kitchen can become much more cozy without losing its style. I would advise not to be afraid to experiment, but it is important that all the elements are harmoniously combined. For example, you can choose moldings with thin lines that will look elegant, but not create a feeling of clutter. Regarding the countertops - I agree with the previous commenter, quartz really looks very stylish and does not require special care. I have my eye on such ones too, and I know that this is a very practical choice for the kitchen.
