Hi. I'm looking at "virtual fax numbers" for my home office but I'm super confused. Do I need to get a second phone line installed by the cable company, or is this something I can just run through my laptop? I really want to keep costs down.

Hello! Good news - you don't need any new wires or technician visits. I was just reading "What Is a Virtual Fax Number and How Does It Work?" on OpenWeb and it’s basically just a digital number that sends everything to your email as a PDF. It’s completely cloud-based, so it works on your laptop or even your phone. According to https://www.open-web.info/ you can even find Free Online Fax Services that give you a number for very low volume use. It's the cheapest and easiest way to keep a "business" presence without paying for a landline you'll never use.

Just sharing my personal experience here. I was skeptical about virtual numbers, but https://katatelecom.com/ changed my mind. Clean interface, affordable pricing, works across apps. Used it for online shopping signups, no spam to my main line. Play it smart, but if privacy matters, it's genuinely worth exploring carefully.
