It's a Tuesday at Fratello HQ, so naturally, the guys are all doing their part and wearing their Speedmasters. This is not the case every Tuesday, but the stars have aligned today, and a trio of Moonwatches has made it
link onto the podcast. However, they are three different references. We start with Daan, who is wearing the latest reference (310.30.42.50.01.001) on a pigskin strap from Joseph Bonnie. The edgy and shiny Seamaster 300M was a "desk diver" right from the start, despite its 300m depth rating and the manual helium escape valve. For the final part of my time at Mille Miglia, we got to see each car start its official timing at a special stage on a closed segment of Viale Venezia, a road in Brescia. Truth be told, I didn't stay to watch all 451 cars drive up the ramp and start the race, but we did stick around to see some amazing cars and cheer on Karl-Friedrich and Caroline Marie in that lovely 300SL. The crowds lined both sides of the street for miles.
If you want to understand where all the suspicion comes from, look at the picture below from my archive, showing a blue-dial Gallet diver's chronograph. But if NOMOS continues its practice of rapidly refreshing the Tetra line, it's safe to assume these colors won't stick around past this run.The proportions, material, and colors work wonders — and not just
link for me.These three watches are all 44.25mm in diameter, and they are made out of a combination of platinum and gold, so there is some serious wrist heft going on. What I do think is well worth pointing out, though, is that they don't seem to wear crazy large. Check out the wrist shot below (taken by Stephen during Swatch Group's Time To Move event) for a bit of context.
Both pieces host a dial with a rather identical overall look with its sunray-brushed finish, its sandblasted ring featuring dot-style indexes and relief-displayed Arabic numerals hovered over by Dauphine-shaped hour and minute
