At 6 o’clock, there is a sub-dial for a second time zone, featuring a sun in saffron enamel and a night sky in blue. It takes quite a while for the artisans to get the colors and effects just right. At 12 o’clock, there’s a power reserve indicator on the guilloche dial. The long hands are perfectly readable and have the typical Voutilainen design, with blued circles and (gold) arrow pointers.At 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock are the numerals to indicate 55 minutes and 5 minutes. My view is link that the asymmetry between double digits and the single digit is off-kilter. A suggestion would be to include the 0 before the 5 to equalize the uniformity of the dial.My go to watch this year was the Japanese made Seiko Business-A. It’s getting pretty hard to find this watch with the Japanese day indicator. I love simple Seiko watches that fly under the radar here in the United States. If you meet someone else wearing a Seiko like this there is an unspoken understanding that you’re going for quality over the popularity contest.The Perpetual Ludwig, on the other hand, does not use the traditional program disk and so represents a major departure from standard watchmaking practice of previous centuries. Instead, it relies on an arrangement of stacked program gears, and thanks to the fact that a gear system is inherently bidirectional the Perpetual Ludwig can indeed be adjusted either forwards or backwards at will.

They're trying to create a horological masterpiece and don't want anyone drawing a mustache on their Mona Lisa. But this mentality puts the watch industry out of step with the rest of the world, which is hurtling inexorably toward customization.
