Hi travelers!

I'm spending 4 days in Bucharest next week. Everyone says I must go to Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle), but I see it's quite far away from the city. Is it really worth spending a whole day in a bus? I'm worried it might be just a huge tourist trap with long lines.

Also, is it easy to go by train or rent a car? I want to see Transylvania but don't want to be exhausted or stressed about driving. Any honest opinions from those who went?

It is absolutely worth it, but you have to manage your expectations! Bran is cool (spooky vibes!), but Peles Castle in Sinaia was actually the highlight for me—it is stunning, like a fairytale movie set.  Doing it by train is tricky because connections to Bran are slow, and driving can be stressful with the mountain traffic. We took a full-day guided tour that covered Peles, Bran, and the city of Brasov all in one go. It was a long day (about 12 hours), but totally hassle-free. We found our tour here and the guide was super knowledgeable about the real history, not just the vampire myths. Peles is gorgeous inside, so don't skip the interior tour. Also, make sure to try some "papanasi" (donuts with cream and jam) when you stop in Brasov for lunch! If you have energy left when you return, grab a late dinner in Bucharest's Old Town. Enjoy Romania!
