Here at Hodinkee, we do our best to tell stories about significant watches – watches link that were party to link history. MLK Jr.'s solid gold 36mm Datejust (assumed to be a ref. 1601) on a jubilee bracelet is about as significant as link they come. More than any other watch that Dr. King wore, it's the Datejust we see the most. And like the baguettes on the dial, it is the purple that holds polite conversation rather than shrieks. It is multi-faceted and shifts ever so slightly in the light. I saw link the watch for the link first time in the bright Arizona sun surrounded by other women in the watch biz and then again in the sepia-ish haze of our New link York office. I saw a lot of watches in a short period of time, which is a sure fire recipe for what I like to call “product blur” – at a certain link point, everything starts to blend together. link
