You won’t find any airplane parts inside, but the date is a nod to the country's first ever air show, held in 1919. It was actually just one aircraft, flown by a pilot hired just for the occasion and who stayed on the island for three weeks after arriving via ferry.The next watch Curtis acquired was this Tudor Prince Oyster Date. Just a nep prada few years later, in 1990, Rado released the fittingly-named Ceramica, the company's first watch to feature a ceramic case with an integrated ceramic bracelet. It's the first watch to embody the Rado archetype that you're probably familiar with. It was black, shiny, geometric, and must have looked straight out of the future, even in 1990. This year, Rado actually re-released the Ceramica, but with some substantial updates from industrial designer Konstantine Grcic.A similar approach was taken for the new Frosted Gold pieces. Audemars Piguet partnered with Florentine jeweler Carolina Bucci to collaborate on this anniversary piece. Bucci is known for her bold jewelry pieces that often have a hammered finish. This process is call the Florentine Technique and it involves a diamond-tipped, needle-like tool that hammers into the surface of gold, creating tiny facets.
