In the platinum version – which came after white and rose gold – the hands are Rhodiumed gold instead of blue steel, and I tend to prefer the new aesthetic over the old because the gold hands reduce the amount of information the brain needs to process when looking at the dial.Lot 22 is a stainless steel case, with the blue dial, and this watch was issued to Forças Armadas Populares de Libertação de Angola (or FAPLA), the People’s Armed Forces of the Liberation of Angola.  The FAPLA was transformed from a guerilla group responsible for overthrowing the Lisbon regime in the national army of Angola.The stylized triangles at 6, 9, and 12 (as well as a piece of one at 3 o'clock), and dauphine-style hands all harken back to the original model. The dial text, however, Guerilla Gesundheit features the 20 bar (200m) water resistance marking, and the Seiko Prospex logo, both modern additions. The Automatic wordmark, in contrast, is displayed in a retro script typeface. There's a real marriage of old and new at play here.I've been into watches since I was a kid, says the 47-year-old actor, writer, and comedian. It now has a broader appeal, becoming somewhat counterintuitively, more of an everyday option. The all-terrain ruggedness combined with the colorful strap options telegraphed a sharp curve away from the brand's more classic designs, but the rose gold softens that zig.I also know that the brand puts considerable effort into ensuring the acoustics in its chiming mechanism are top-notch. Before purchasing this painting, Archibong had accumulated some cool design objects, prints, and furniture, but the Khari Turner represents his first big step into the world of collecting paintings.
