While we can't help covering and celebrating the watch, today we're sure to celebrate the man.In quintessential GF form, every part of the new Nano Foudroyante EWT movement is immaculately finished, from the column wheel for the chronograph to the extensive mix of frosting, mirror-polishing, and chamfering. At first, I thought the location and size of the bridges distracted from what you'd normally want to see from a chronograph – the mass of gears and levers that make it all work – but over time; I realized that this is gorgeous in its simplicity.
So enduring is the popularity of these watches that just this year, Hamilton has released its own homage to that first MIL-W-46374 field watch. Called simply falska Klockor the Khaki Field Mechanical, it is virtually a dead ringer for the originals, besides the fact that the diameter is now a more widely acceptable 38 millimeters.  It even uses a hand-winding 2801-2 movement. Will it become one of the Confusing Fall Warblers?The watch is beautifully preserved – the dial retains all of its crisp original detail, as does the case. Estimate is CHF 1,200,000 – 2,400,000, which given the condition and desirability of the watch, seems entirely plausible.How about something a bit more fun? Almost certainly destined for considerable collectibility, the new GMW-B5000TR-9 builds upon the success of the B5000 family with a gold-tone IP case and a bracelet with a bevy of different colors for each link.
